The Totally Awesome Startup Community Fund

I get asked the question all the time: “Bart, after coming out of TechStars Boulder why did you locate FullContact in Denver and not Boulder?”
The superficial answer is: both my co-founders and several early employees lived south of Denver while I was the only one in Boulder.
The deeper reason is that we wanted to build something really cool and big in the Startup Community of Denver.
We wanted to be Startup Community activists. We wanted to be leaders. We wanted to help the community thrive. And Denver needed the help and the energy more than Boulder.
Since moving down to Denver nearly two years, ago, FullContact has participated in its share of Denver activities and events:
Unfortunately, many of these events cost money. Some, serious money (more than just pizza and beer). As a result, we allocated precious FullContact resources to raise sponsorship dollars, spend sponsorship dollars and be a sponsor.
While the events were successful, there could have been a better way.
Now, there is.
It’s called the Colorado Startup Community Fund and I’m thrilled to be a participant.
Instead of having to raise small amounts of money for events from sponsors piecemeal or write checks to each individual event, we have a great source of sponsorship funds and a great place to send our money.
I’m excited to serve on the grant committee and be a fund participant.
So, if you have an idea, feel free to apply online at Colorado Startup Community Fund and your idea will be reviewed!
